Position Summary
The Communications Coordinator/ Undergraduate Program Administrator will support the department's communication efforts, provide administrative support to the undergraduate program, and assist in departmental programming. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing marketing, communications and fundraising materials; producing social media content; maintaining social media accounts; updating the departmental website; entering the teaching schedule for each semester; managing departmental records, spreadsheets and databases related to the undergraduate program; maintaining a working knowledge of UGA's campus resources and relevant policies and procedures.
Working with the department head, the associate head and the undergraduate coordinators, the Communications Coordinator/ Undergraduate Program Administrator must manage multiple priorities and projects and demonstrate creativity, flexibility, self-motivation, and strong problem solving for analysis and communication. The Communications Coordinator/ Undergraduate Program Administrator must demonstrate the ability to think creatively, analytically, and strategically, and have verified leadership skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position will support the department's communication efforts, provide administrative support to the undergraduate program, and assist in departmental programming using various programs, including Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Drupal, and various social media platforms.

Departmental Communications Coordination
- Help maintain accurate and current information on the Geography Department website.
- Disseminate information on talks, seminars, colloquia, or other events that would be of interest to Geography undergraduate students.
- Generate and edit content and coordinate all logistics in creation of all communication means including:
- Newsletters
- Mailers
- Website
- Seminar/colloquia flyers
- Social media and other external correspondence
- Physical and digital displays in GGY
Undergraduate Program Administration
- Enter the teaching schedule for the fall, spring, Maymester and summer semesters using Banner (university specific software program).
- Manage departmental records, spreadsheets and databases related to the undergraduate program
- Coordinate classroom assignments.
- Clear students to register for courses based on a specific set of pre-established criteria.
- Process section change forms and transfer credit summaries.
- Monitor the student evaluation process at the end of each semester per the department guidelines.
- Support the undergraduate award process and departmental graduation event.
General Departmental Support
- Support Geography's marketing, communication, and fundraising efforts and undergraduate program.
- Coordinate and provide leadership on special projects assigned by the department Head, Associate Head and Undergraduate Coordinators.
- Perform tasks and assignments as instructed by the departmental leadership.
- Create and distribute physical room schedules.Assist with visitors, speakers, special events and event setup.
Undergraduate Recruitment and Retention
- Maintain knowledge of the University of Georgia campus resources, information systems, and university, college, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing recruiting plans and associated materials and departmental retention strategies
- Assist in creating and implementing procedures to increase the recruitment of minority applicants and retention of minority students
